It is said that anger, hurt, stress and pain are ones own creation. They don’t come through situations or people’s behaviour. I choose to be unhappy; no one compels me to do so. We always get trapped in the clutches of our expectations. We tend to define terms for being happy. May that be about the way in which someone should treat us or a desire about the outcome of the work we are doing, the list is just endless. We just keep wishing, expecting and hoping for something to occur and then be happy. And any deviation of reality from our expectations makes us feel unhappy, lost or at times even miserable. It simply means people and circumstances control us and our happiness. And in such a case we will never be able to remain happy. Happiness is a state of mind, our own mind and we have the power to be happy under any circumstance. It is possible that things will continue to go wrong, people will continue to cheat us and situations will continue to go unfavourable. But, it is importan...

The clock struck 0’clock and an ear deafening sound exploded in the party hall. It was my party host who was excitedly wishing and urging people to welcome the New Year. Yeah! True a new year was really there, but what about “happy”? I really wonder at times why everyone celebrates so much for that one night. But on a deeper thought I feel that if they didn't they wouldn’t have been saying “happy”. Knowingly or unknowingly we keep saying it because we are lost in the spirit of celebrations. From the lightest music to the hardest drink we have it all in our parties. Lost so much into it that we really forget who we are and what are we going through and sadly I guess that makes us say “happy”. The year is new but the life is still a continuation and nothing miraculously is going to make it happy. So what does it take to be happy throughout the year?
