An Unmindful Disparity

Image
I have been fortunate to live under clear skies and bright sunlight, I could never imagine chilly terrains or a stormy plight. But as the place, I reside in offers me good seasons, I am not to assume that the people do not face adverse climatic conditions. As my environment is conducive for me to nurture, I am no one to judge the people who complain of the thrill of nature. The disparity of weather is a factual reality. And so is true about our economic & social quality. Where I get my right to learn, earn & grow, There are many to whom the opportunities remain low. So, as I pass my opinion on the matters related to social welfare, I must first accept that there is enough inequality in our day-to-day affairs. Not always does a failure reflect a lack of individual capacity, But I am never willing to evaluate the systemic inconsistency. The disconnect is more due to a prejudicial vision, That I measure things from the reference of my posi...

Be Real

Gold does not worry about protecting its glitter, Shine is its inherent nature. Something that makes it unique & worthy. It knows that its strength lies in its purity.   Many who emulate it are well in its sight, But it is unshackled with their attempts to look bright. As no matter how much they pretend to shine, The truth prevails that their lustre is sublime.   Insecurity dwells in the pretext of a self-proclaimed glory, Fake propositions do not earn a success story. Genuineness is never in search of visibility, For confidence lies in being aware of one’s ability.   Needs and utilities will evolve with time, What’s significant today may tomorrow turn futile. What matters is how far have you been able to rise, Craving for adulations will only make you fragile.   What’s unreal will eventually fade away, And that what remains will find its way. More than your glitter, what’s important is your endeavour, Your str...

The secret of good communication!

Communication has a lot to do with our attitude. This thought struck me while pondering over the subject of effective communication with one of my teammates. It is essentially true that effective communication goes beyond the dynamics of language and talking well with people. The essence of it lies in getting, What, How, and When to convey a message right. And this reflects the maturity of a person. We often tend to focus only on factors like vocabulary, confidence, public speaking, and the accuracy of the language. But along with these factors, one also requires sensibility to analyze the situation and respond to it appropriately. Keeping the outcome in mind is the key to successful communication. It all goes well if we communicated in the best interest of the situation we get in. The leaders who drive work well are the ones who can communicate with others with empathy. Putting oneself in other's shoes is the best way to rationalize other's viewpoints. Somebody could be in pai...

Adapt to Change

Experience is the best teacher. We all learn through our experiences. We grow by experimenting with our ideas and exploring new insights from them. Whether it is about dealing with people, making a career move, or taking up an investment option, our assumptions are often challenged by the test of reality. People, who understand these nuances fast, learn from them and grow faster, whereas others, who struggle to get out of their prejudices, remain lost. It’s important to keep learning from our trials and picking up our lessons. Life is long enough to get another chance to do it better.  So, is true with businesses, it’s important to keep adapting to the changing environment. Variability can be managed if they are predictable. But, at times things go out of one’s horizon of thinking and clarity. When things go out of order, it’s important to be stable, introspect and take corrective actions. The more you accept reality the more you will widen your perception towards things. It is wis...

Choosing a Work “Life”!

Imagine if someone gave you the right to choose your own work-life! What would you choose? What would it be like – less work, no work or more meaningful work? Well, it would mean different things for different people but for me it would be about choosing freedom. Freedom to find a place where I can be myself, to the fullest. And to give a room to all my potential for creating a good living for myself and many others whom I want to touch. For me, it would not be about finding the right job, but it would be about exploring myself. It would not be about being adventurous, but about being more responsible. It would not be about breaking free from rules, but about listening to my own self. It would not be about winning the race, but about giving myself that a chance to live, evolve and cherish… It would not be about being lucky, but about being deserving to be one… It would be about dreaming, living for a purpose and leaving behind a trace of my existence...

About Leadership

Leadership is about maturity and not position. I remember a well-known line that says the power that comes with position goes with it. I want to further add that the real power lies in ones character. Authority should not attract self-pride. People who use their authority to get things done are simply weak enough to win the confidence of people. Discipline can never be enforced on people; it works only if it is inculcated in their minds. A leader is not a dictator. Only he who can understand people can lead. A leader should use his strengths to motivate people, remove indifferent attitude from their minds, foster sense of equality, belongingness and liveliness in the team. People who are self-centered cannot be good leaders. Leadership demands to be one with people. If you don’t understand the strengths and weaknesses of your team you can never lead; if you don’t understand their likes and dislikes you can never lead. Leaders don’t just create followers, they create able individ...

Be Happy...Don’t Expect it

It is said that anger, hurt, stress and pain are ones own creation. They don’t come through situations or people’s behaviour. I choose to be unhappy; no one compels me to do so. We always get trapped in the clutches of our expectations. We tend to define terms for being happy. May that be about the way in which someone should treat us or a desire about the outcome of the work we are doing, the list is just endless. We just keep wishing, expecting and hoping for something to occur and then be happy. And any deviation of reality from our expectations makes us feel unhappy, lost or at times even miserable. It simply means people and circumstances control us and our happiness. And in such a case we will never be able to remain happy. Happiness is a state of mind, our own mind and we have the power to be happy under any circumstance. It is possible that things will continue to go wrong, people will continue to cheat us and situations will continue to go unfavourable. But, it is importan...
