Be Happy...Don’t Expect it
It is said that anger, hurt,
stress and pain are ones own creation. They don’t come through situations or people’s
behaviour. I choose to be unhappy; no one compels me to do so. We always get
trapped in the clutches of our expectations. We tend to define terms for being
happy. May that be about the way in which someone should treat us or a desire about
the outcome of the work we are doing, the list is just endless. We just keep wishing,
expecting and hoping for something to occur and then be happy. And any deviation
of reality from our expectations makes us feel unhappy, lost or at times even
miserable. It simply means people and circumstances control us and our
happiness. And in such a case we will never be able to remain happy.
Happiness is a state of mind, our
own mind and we have the power to be happy under any circumstance. It is possible that things will
continue to go wrong, people will continue to cheat us and situations will continue
to go unfavourable. But, it is
important to check and determine if we are ready to let such things control us and our
state of mind. Pain is not natural. We create it. No one instills it in us. We
have a choice all the time of either to be happy and stable or succumb to the unfavourable
happenings. Worry and hurt increases the intensity of things that go wrong. It
is not the problem or the situation that continuously give us trouble; we
continue to affect our mind by thinking about it all the time. Let it go...
So, instead of expecting
happiness from people, situations and things outside, BE happy. It is important
to remind ourselves that, yes, things have gone wrong and there is a reason why
it went wrong. Analyze the situation and learn from it. Don’t let it control
your state of mind. Only you are responsible for your happiness. Don’t carry
the load of the situation in your mind. Sadness is like a chain reaction; one unhappy
feeling gives rise to another, don’t let even a single one dwell in your mind. Experience
every moment with peace; a stable healthy mind. We have the power to do it. Try
and change your attitude J
